About this resource

Palliative care offers comprehensive support to improve the quality of life of those dealing with a life-limiting illness. But this type of care is often poorly understood and not always offered to or accessed by those who would benefit from it.

Created by the All-Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC), Introduction to Palliative Care is a short online module that will help you understand what palliative care is and who can benefit from it.

Work is underway to create an Alberta version of this module. In the meantime, we encourage you to explore the original version.

How to use it

Loved one receiving palliative care?

Hi, my name is Sam and I'm a high school student. I heard my parents talking about palliative care in relation to my uncle, and I don't know what that is. Does that mean he can't be cured? Does it mean I won't be able to see him anymore? Where can I go for information?
